A woman spoke after a semi crashed through her home Tuesday.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said that one person was dead and three were injured after a semi and a pick-up truck crashed into a home Tuesday afternoon.
According to troopers, the two vehicles crashed near the intersection of state Route 302 and U.S. Route 42 and then crashed into the home.
The driver of the pick-up truck died at the scene, and bystanders pulled the driver of the semi, which was carrying bananas, to safety. The driver was hospitalized.
Gloria Ickes said that she was literally feet from where the trucks came crashing through her home.
“I heard a bang and then I heard a second bang when it ran into the house, then I heard some explosions,” Ickes said.
Ickes was in her kitchen when the collision occurred. The resulting fire destroyed the home in which she grew up.
Troopers said the home was a total loss.
“You just thank God life's as good as it is,” Ickes said. “You make all the memories you can while you're here and know that you're going to be with the Lord when the time comes.”
Troopers have not released the name of the pick-up driver who died and they have not said anything about a cause.
Witnesses said that the pickup driver ran a stop sign.
