Armed Man Speaks Of Wife, Children Before Stealing Cash, Candy From Gas Station

Police took to the air and ground to search for an armed robber in West Jefferson Tuesday morning.

According to authorities, the robber walked into the Certified Gas Station, located along Main Street, and threatened the clerk with a semiautomatic handgun around 1:38 a.m.

The clerk told police that the man said he had a wife and kids to feed before taking an undisclosed amount of cash, cigarettes and candy.

Officers were searching the area for the man and the Columbus Division of Police helicopter was dispatched to the area, to no avail.

The robber was described as a white man with goatee facial hair. He stood arounf 5 foot 7 inches and weighed around 170lbs. The robber was wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and tan boots.

The clerk was not injured during the robbery.
