A Genoa Township police officer and an Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper were both injured when their motorcycles collided Monday while part of Michelle Obama's motorcade escort.

Police officials said the two suffered possible broken ribs and one of them broke a foot.

According to investigators, one of the officers may have been attempting to block a side road to let the First Lady Michelle Obama's vehicle through when the collision occurred.

The crash happened about 4:15 p.m. along U.S. Route 36/state Route 37 and South Old State Road. Obama had spoken at Ohio Wesleyan at 2:45 p.m.

The first lady's car was not involved in the accident.
