Police said on Tuesday that the DNA of a convicted felon matched the DNA collected in an unsolved rape case.
According to police, Charles E. Jackson was arrested and charged for a rape that occurred in 1994 on Oct. 7 this year.
Police said that on July 7, 1994, Jackson allegedly followed a 23-year-old and pulled her into an alley in the 1500 block of Fourth Avenue. He allegedly pulled a knife, choked the woman and then sexually assaulted her.
In July this year, police found that Jackson's DNA matched the DNA collected in a rape from 1994.
Jackson also is suspected in a rape from 2007.
Jackson has not been charged in connection with the 2007 but is considered a suspect. Jackson never was convicted in connection with the 1994 rape.
Court records show that Jackson has a lengthy criminal history, including misdemeanor and felony charges.
