Emergency crews evacuated an ODOT building because of a hazardous materials situation Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred inside the Office of Geotechnical Engineering, located at 1600 West Broad Street. The building was evacuated around 7:45 a.m.
The building is used to test road pavements. Crews said that the cleaning agent used to separate materials from pavement reacted with the aluminum drum that contained it, producing a vapor inside a contained testing area.
One worker inside the building witnessed the chemical bubbling on the aluminum.
There were no reports of injuries.
