A man changed his plea to guilty in connection with stealing a vehicle on the way to jail.
The Athens County Prosecutor's Office said that Richard L. Puckett changed his plea on Monday after being indicted on robbery, theft of a firearm, assault on a peace officer, grand theft of a motor vehicle and escape charges.
According to the prosecutor's office, Puckett, 45, attempted to disarm a deputy, escaped from custody and stole the transport vehicle while being transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on March 2.
Puckett was sentenced to 9 years in prison for the crimes.
