Man Surrenders To Police After Barricading Himself In Home

A Columbus man has surrended to police after barricading himself in his house for several hours.


Police responded to a domestic dispute call and found a man barricaded inside of a house, located in the 1100 block of Lawrence Drive, shortly after 8 p.m.. Police said that there were weapons inside the home, but it was unknown if the unidentified man was armed.

According to police, the man inside of the home has a history of drug use.

At one point, police said he was holding his family inside the home, but they were released around 9 p.m.

Around 11:15 p.m., after several hours of talking with the suspect, he surrendered to police.

Lockbourne Road at Lawrence Drive and Ellsworth Avenue at East Woodrow Avenue were blocked for the investigation but have since reopened.

The details surrounding the initial call to the home were not immediately available. The suspect's name has not been released at this time.
