9 Arrested For OVI During 2 Sobriety Checkpoints

Two sobriety checkpoints resulted in multiple arrests overnight.

The Franklin County DUI Task Force held a checkpoint from 9 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday on Westerville Road south of Innis Road in Mifflin Township.

Officials said that they arrested five people on OVI charges. Twenty-one other citations were issued for violations like license violations, vehicle registration violations and child restraint citations.

Six vehicles were impounded, and officers charged two with drug possession.

In total, 384 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.

The Columbus Division of Police also held a checkpoint from 9 p.m. Friday to 2:30 a.m. Saturday on Bethel Road at Dalmeny Court.

Four people were arrested on OVI charges, and 23 others received various citations for violations such as having an open container of alcohol, driving under suspension, no operators license and child restraint.

The total number of vehicles checked at the checkpoint was 881.
