Nine people are behind bars after being indicted by a Scioto County Grand jury for allegedly running a black tar heroin operation in southern Ohio.
The Southern Ohio Drug Task Force had been investigating the operation since July.
Arthur Adkins, 41, of Columbus and Jess Fleming, 22, of Vinton were stopped on Sept. 10 and detectives said they seized 150 grams of black tar heroin from their vehicle.
That same day, authorities served a search warrant at the home of Paul David Elrod, 58, of Portsmouth. Investigators said they discovered Oxycondone pills and other evidence related to heroin trafficking at the home. Dorothy Stone, 30, was also arrested on drug charges at that time.
On October 5, a grand jury indicted Adkins, Fleming, Elrod, and Stone along with five other Portsmouth residents.
Robert Collins, 39; Cecil Collins, 33; Jerry Collins, 33; Melissa O'Roark, 31; and Anna Will, 27; were indicted on various drug related charges.
Police arrested the nine individuals on Wednesday.
They were all being held in the Scioto County Jail without bond until their arraignments, according to a news release.
