J. Tim Evans, the last living founder of Bob Evans Farms, passed away on Thursday in Gallipolis.

Evans helped launch Bob Evans Farms, Inc. in 1953 with his cousin, Bob Evans, his uncle and three friends. The company first was founded to produce and sell Evans' trademark sausage but soon expanded to have a restaurant division.

"We were saddened to learn of the passing of company founder Tim Evans," said Bob Evans Farms, Inc. chairman and CEO Steve Davis in a release Friday. "Tim was one of the visionaries who helped shape the company and guide it in its early years, which would ultimately help us become the $1.7-billion, multi-brand corporation we are today."
