A teen girl was pronounced dead late Friday night after being struck by a vehicle near a southwest side high school Friday evening.
According to police, the unidentified girl was struck near Briggs High School, located at 2555 Briggs Rd., at about 8 p.m. She was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where she died.
The girl was heading to a football game at the time of the crash.
The driver of the vehicle who struck the teen stopped at the scene. It was unknown if the unidentified driver would face charges.
According to a witness, the driver did everything she could to help the teen.
"The lady that hit her, she put a blanket over her," witness Skyler Graves said.
The driver, who was not immediately identified, told police that she did not see the girl crossing the road.
The crash was under investigation.
