High School Student Shot Near East Side Elementary School

A high school student was recovering at Nationwide Children's Hospital on Thursday after a shooting near an east side elementary school.

According to police, the shooting occurred at about 2:30 p.m. near East Livingston Avenue and Shady Lane Road.

Police said that it appeared the shooting broke out after a fight, in which a person returned with a gun and fired four shots.

A small portion of East Livingston was closed at Country Club Road while authorities investigated the scene. It reopened a short time later.

According to Columbus schools officials, the bullet is believed to have grazed the girl's forehead.

The name and condition of the person shot was not immediately released.

No one was in custody in connection with the shooting and police continued to investigate.
