Deputies Investigate Police Impersonator Reports

UPDATED: Thursday October 11, 2012 6:11 AM

Licking County Sheriff's deputies were investigating two reports of a man impersonating a police officer Wednesday.

Deputies said both incidents happened just outside Pataskala city limits.

A 17-year-old girl told investigators she was alone in her car just after 1:00 p.m. when she was pulled over near Hollow and Watkins by a tan or gold mini van with a siren and flashing lights on the dash.

Investigators said she described the driver as a man with a mustache, wearing a black turtle neck with the letters "CPD" on it.

She said the man got out of the van, but then returned to the vehicle after saying something to the effect of the call had been canceled.

Investigators said a second incident took place Wednesday night.

Deputies said if you are ever in doubt about whether you are being followed or pulled over by an actual officer, you should call 911, give them your location, and ask for verification.
