Authorities increased the amount of a reward being offered to find a person who skinned a dog.

A driver spotted the dog's decaying carcass in early October along state Route 32 at Pattonsville Road. It was in the grass near the intersection.

The Jackson County Humane Society initially offered a $100 reward for information leading to the prosecution of the person responsible. The agency increased that to $350 on Tuesday.

Investigators said they were concerned that whoever mutilated the animal could be capable of a more serious crime.
