Businesses are gearing up for the holidays and that means a hiring boost in central Ohio.

Call center representative Cassandra Clark is gearing up for a busy season.

With the holidays coming up eager shoppers are flooding the web site, directing all questions to the call center.

"I help customers with their orders. I help them place orders. I help them figure out where their order is at in the system," Clark said.

More orders means, more calls. Which is why JCPenney is hiring on more help.

"We are looking for people, we are looking for people with a passion for customer service," Mark Polley, Director of Customer Care said.

Hundreds of positions are now open at the JCPenney call center, located at 5555 Scarborough Blvd., and distribution center in Columbus.

Other companies are hiring now as well, Toys R Us needs 45,000 seasonal workers to staff for the holiday toy frenzy and Limited Brands has positions open at their distribution center in Reynoldsburg.

The jobs are based on a six-month term, and some will turn into full-time employment.

Other retailers hiring for the season include Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Kohls and Meijer.
