UPDATED: Tuesday October 2, 2012 1:23 PM
A Knox County man was indicted in connection with the death of his girlfriend's 4-year-old son.

David R. Scott Jr. faces murder and felonious assault charges in connection with the death of Kendrick Breece on Aug. 12.

Scott, 38, also faces child endangering charges in connection with alleged physical abuse of Kendrick and his 18-month-old sibling and excessive corporal punishment of Kendrick's 6- and 8-year-old siblings.

The children's mother, Tabitha Marie Raver is charged with administrating excessive corporal punishment and child endangering.

Mount Vernon police said that they received an emergency call on Aug. 12 about an unresponsive boy.

The 4-year-old was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, where investigators said that the boy died.

According to a 911 call placed by the boy's mother, the boy fell down a set of stairs the day before.

During the call to 911, the mother said that he fell down the stairs twice that day, but that he was OK, until Aug. 12, when he stopped breathing.

Both Scott and Raver were being held in the Knox County Jail.
