A store clerk said that he found a way to beat the thieves at their own game.
Cigarette burglars have targeted Arif Atique’s store three times, most notably when the thieves crashed a vehicle into the building to gain access.
When thieves returned with sledgehammers, the unwelcome guests discovered a disappointing surprise. Empty cigarette box decoys were all they found.
“As soon as I saw the video I was laughing. The cop said, ‘Why are you laughing?’ I said, ‘Because there is no cigarettes,’” Atique said.
Though the crooks left empty handed, Atique said that the break-ins were breaking his spirit.
“Twenty-four hours I have to be here? To keep an eye or something to stop that thing? I have no idea what to do now,” Atique said.
Police have not made any arrests.
