Fairfield County deputies were investigating two possible cases of child enticement on Monday.
Fairfield County deputies told 10TV News that they have been notified twice about the suspicious vehicle, but only one report was filed.
The latest reported incident came from the father of an 8-year-old boy who alerted police Sunday night.
Investigators were told the boy was playing in his front yard on Church View Drive when a man driving a gray van slowed down. Two younger boys in the vehicle tried to lure the 8-year-old with candy and a football, according to the report.
The child was able to run and tell his father, who then called police.
Some residents said the news left them uneasy and on guard.
"An email went out to just about everyone in the neighborhood today. Everybody is being observant around, watching not only their own kids but everyone's children. It's a scary, scary thing and we're paying attention," said Scott Sanders.
Sheriff Dave Phalen said another enticement case was brought to their attention in the Meadowmoore subdivision last month.
Patrols have been increased in the area, according to Phalen.
