Investigators determined that an intense Friday morning house fire was arson.
Flames engulfed the vacant home, located at Cable and Chicago avenues, around 3 a.m.
Firefighters said that the fire was so dangerous, they were never able to enter the home.
A broken fire hydrant caused a brief delay to crews battling the blaze from the back of the home.
The blaze spread to a neighboring home, which was being renovated by a family. Investigators said the damage to the renovated home could be repaired.
The vacant home was a total loss. There were no reports of injuries.
The cause of the fire was under investigation. A neighbor told investigators they saw what appeared to be a young person running from the home before the flames erupted.
