Man Flees Police At 100 MPH, Ditches Car In Upper Arlington

Authorities were searching Upper Arlington for a man who fled from police early Thursday morning.

Columbus Police said they approached the man’s vehicle and he sped away from authorities. The man abandoned the vehicle on Chester Road in Upper Arlington around 3:30 a.m.

The search was being conducted between Northwest Boulevard and Kenny Road.

Columbus police said a caller reported the man could be armed and threatened to commit “suicide by cop.”

Police searched the area using a helicopter, k-9 unit, SWAT officers and ground patrols to look for the suspect. He was not found.

Upper Arlington police were called off the search around 5 a.m., around the time when the vehicle the man drove was towed away.

A description of the man was not immediately given.
