Students at the High School have been notified and we are providing grief counseling at the school all day," said a statement released by the district.

10TV recently spoke with Chapman when her daughter drowned in a quarry outside Grandview Heights on Sept. 7.

Authorities said that an off-duty Columbus police officer, identified as Nicholas E. Mason, was returning home from work in a personal vehicle when the crash occurred.

Investigators said that Mason appeared to have injuries to his hip as well as numerous cuts. He was taken to Grant Medical Center.
