Police issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of stalking and abducting an 8-year-old boy.

Jose Alfredo Nunez, 38, used to date the child's mother.

Jennifer Haas said it started with Nunez stalking her after they broke up in May.

"It's disgraceful, Haas said. "He's hurting my family and my son."

The boy's grandmother described the attention then turning to the child.

"He would get to Joey to try to get to Jennifer. He says he loves her. He will always love her, and he will not stop until he gets to her," Deana Mace Hutchinson said.

The boy told 10TV News he ran into Nunez one day last week after school.

"And I walked by him, and he told me to get in the car. And I got in it, and there were two knives sitting in the pocket," Joey Haas said. "And he said 'if you don't get in the car, I'll be looking through your mom's windows 24 and banging on her window.'"

Haas said he then ran home.

The family filed a report with police, and began picking up Joey after school.

Whitehall police had an active search underway Saturday for Nunez. Investigators were asking anyone with information about him to call 614-237-6333.
