Caller Claiming To Be Store Management Cons Employee Into Handing Over Money

Chillicothe police were searching for the people behind a “confidence” theft.

According to police, an unknown person called the Marathon store, located on Western Avenue in Chillicothe, on Thursday and said that he was management.

The person on the phone instructed the store employee to give another person money.

A woman was captured on surveillance camera receiving a bag of money from the store employee.

According to police, the person on the telephone was able to scam the employee by using legitimate business terms and procedures.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Chillicothe Police Department at 740-773-1191 or Southern Ohio Crime Stoppers at 740-773-TIPS.
