A man was taken to Grant Medical Center with a gunshot wound after a south side shooting Friday afternoon.

According to Columbus police, the man, identified as Alex Hardwick, 21, was taken to the hospital shortly before 4 p.m. after a shooting on Amwell Road East off of U.S. Route 23 on the south side.

A neighbor said that Hardwick banged on her door and told her that he had been shot in the chest.

According to detectives, Hardwick was riding his bike when he got off of it and into a car with several people inside. Detectives said that there was an altercation between the people, and someone shot the man.

Detectives said that the shooting could have stemmed from a drug deal gone wrong.

Officials said that Hardwick sustained non-life threatening injuries from the shooting.

The shooting was still under investigation.
