Rookie Crew midfielder Kirk Urso died of a preexisting heart condition, the Franklin County Coroner reported on Friday.

The coroner’s report stated that Urso died of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy.

Urso collapsed after leaving a Park Street bar in the beginning of August. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Urso had been in his first season with the Crew. He was picked up in the supplemental draft in January. A native of Lombard, Ill., he had played on North Carolina's NCAA title-winning team last fall and for the U.S. under-17 World Cup team in 2007.
