Ohio had the third most child drownings in the summer of 2012 compared to other states, according to an organization that tracks the statistics.
Ohio recorded nine pool or spa drownings of children under the age of 15 last summer, according to The Josh Project.
Across the nation, 137 children drowned in pool or spa related accidents from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Texas had the most at 17 and California reported 10.
The Josh Project compiled the information from data released by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's Pool Safely campaign.
