Son Sentenced To 11 Years For Shooting Father In Head, Killing Him

A man was sentenced to 11 years in prison in connection with the shooting death of his father.

Robert Swackhammer Jr. pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence.

Swackhammer shot his father, Robert Swackhammer Sr., in the head on Sept. 27, 2011. He died at the scene.

Swackhammer Sr., 74, was a grandfather of seven.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Swackhammer Jr. was arrested the month before the shooting for allegedly carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
