Loved ones gathered to remember a local father gunned down in north Columbus.
In addition to honoring the memory of Jimmy Minnifield, family members made pleas to the public for help solving the case of his murder.
“He was very much loved and respected,” Minnifield’s Widow, Carol, said.
Carol and Jimmy Minnifield were married 21 years.
“To come here and see people I haven’t seen since the funeral, it’s a little overwhelming,” Carol Minnifield said. “It’s good to know they cared enough to come here today.”
The group gathered outrise Mitch’s nightclub, where Jimmy was killed on Sept. 15, 2011. He had worked there for five years. Authorities said that he was struck and killed when someone fired a gun, striking the bar’s front door.
“It just so happens Jimmy was standing at the door when the shots came through,” Carol Minnifield said.
Police have yet to solve the crime.
“The evidence is little or nothing,” Carol Minnifield said. “What can you do?”
Carol Minnifield said that she hoped someone in the community would come forward with information so that justice could be served.
Jimmy Minnifield is survived by his wife, three children and a grandchild.
