A family discovered a hateful message scribbled in graffiti on their home in Westerville along Bolamo Drive.
Shawona Lewis says she is still struggling with how to interpret the hateful message someone left on the front and side doors of her home Friday.
“You want to believe it's a joke but then when you think about the reality of a situation you don't want to ignore it and then something happens and then you're like oh my gosh I should have done something more to protect my family,” she said.
Friday afternoon Lewis’s daughter Danaisha returned home from school and discovered the graffiti written in black ink.
“ I received a phone call from my daughter and the kids someone had wrote on the house ‘n-word get out or else,’” Lewis said.
Lewis quickly scrubbed the message off of her home. She said, “If it is a joke I hope they realize we don't see it as a joke and wish that it never happens again.”
Lewis said that she was already taking steps to make sure her kids are safe. She'll be installing cameras outside of her home.
We contacted the Blendon Township Police. They refused comment.
