Former Franklin County Deputy Ordered Held On $500,000 Bond

A former Franklin County deputy was formally charged Saturday morning.

Abbas Sherif was charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle after allegedly firing several shots into the air in front of his ex-girlfriend’s home Thursday night.

Police said that when Sherif drove away, he struck a parked car. He was arrested along Reeb Avenue.

Sherif resigned from his position at the Franklin County Jail before the incident. He was ordered held on $500,000 bond.
