Columbia Gas sent a warning out about a nationwide scam that could affect customers.
Company officials said that there are unidentified people that have called and claimed to be representatives for Columbia Gas. In each case, the caller asked a customer to enroll in an offer under the "Obama Energy Credit". Columbia Gas officials said that there is no such program.
Columbia Gas officials recommended customers to never give out an account number or other personal information. They said doing so could lead to identity theft and credit card fraud.
