A Fairfield County Sheriff’s deputy turned in his resignation this week after being charged with a felony.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Deputy Jeffrey Sarensen early Sunday morning after employees at a bar contacted law enforcement saying that Sarensen struck a woman.

Sarensen was charged with a third-degree felony after he admitted to restraining the woman and attempting to strike her with his knees.

Sarensen is out of jail on bond on an abduction charge.

He worked at the corrections department for the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office. He had only been with the department since June.
