Two Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies and one Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper have been charged in connection with an investigation into a man’s death.

According to court records, Deputy Derek Beggs, Deputy Christopher Hughes and Trooper Sean Carpenter were charged with dereliction of duty in the Delaware County Municipal Court.

The charges follow an investigation into the law enforcement officials dropping a man, identified as Uriel Juarez-Popoca, off at a Delaware County Taco Bell.

Juarez-Popoca was picked up after officials said he was drunk in his vehicle.

Shortly after Juarez-Popoca was dropped off at the restaurant, he was struck and killed along U.S. Route 36.

10 Investigates obtained dash camera video of how troopers and deputies handled Juarez-Popoca.
