Investigators were working to get to the bottom of nearly 20 home and garage break-ins on the west side.
Pat Jackson was brought to tears when she discovered 10 of her deceased husband's handguns were stolen.
"I cried, I cry," Jackson said. "I'm still getting ready to cry right now."
In Jackson's mind, the thieves took a piece of her husband she may never recover.
"I don't know how they got in," Jackson said.
The crooks broke into her home despite her security system. Burglars also broke into other homes and garages in the west Columbus area.
Yvette Wilson said that someone busted a lock to break into her garage and vandalized her 1999 Jaguar. She had just put thousands of dollars into repairing the car.
"Now that I have it right somebody comes along and destroys it," Wilson said.
Wilson had security items up, but the thieves took them.
"It's just unfair that people around here can't sleep at night or you got to worry about somebody going to come in your garage or break-in your garage or even your home, and you not feel safe," Wilson said.
Wilson vowed to put up more cameras and beef up her security system. No arrests have been made.
