Police announced on Friday that they would be checking for drivers under the influence of drugs and alcohol along South Hamilton Road.

The sobriety checkpoint is scheduled for Friday night between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. on South Hamilton Road, south of Groves Road.

Police said that they wanted to remind drivers who planned to consume alcohol to plan for a designated driver or to make other arrangements.

Advanced publicity about the checkpoints serves as a deterrent.
