More than 200 volunteers were preparing for an intense safety blitz focused on improving pedestrian safety near the Ohio State campus.

The push comes after students were seriously injured in four incidents over the last two and a half weeks.

Volunteers will man 14 of the busiest intersections and crosswalks to hand out pamphlets with tips to remind people to be cautious in the campus areas.

“We think it will raise awareness across campus and be one small opportunity to show folks that we care, and that we all need to think about how we live and work together,” Administration and Planning Senior Vice President Jay Kasey said.

The volunteers will also be stationed at popular bike racks, parking lots and garages.
