Investigators released more information about the former Franklin County Sheriff's deputy who was taken into custody last night.

Investigators said that Abbas Sherif was accused of firing multiple shots into the air in front of his ex-girlfriend's Reeb Avenue home around 8:27 p.m.

Authorities said that Sherif fled after firing shots, striking parked cars along the way.

Police said that they believed Sherif, who investigators said resigned from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office last week, was intoxicated at the time the shots were fired.

Sherif faces OVI and weapons charges.

There were no reports of injuries.
