A former Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy was taken into custody Thursday evening.

Investigators said that the man was accused of firing multiple shots into the air near Moler Street around 8:27 p.m.

Police said that they believed the man, who investigators said resigned from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office last week, was intoxicated at the time the shots were fired.

There were no reports of injuries. The identity of the man in custody was not released.
