Woman, 68, Fires Shots At Man Who Attacked Her

Investigators said that a woman fired shots at a man who struck and kicked her.

The 68-year-old woman told investigators that she went outside to investigate her dogs barking when a man wearing a ski mask struck her in the head, knocking her to the ground, and kicked her in the stomach, on Sept. 12.

The woman was able to pull her 0.22 caliber Derringer from her pocked and fire two shots at the man as he turned in fled.

It was not known if the man was struck. The victim said that nothing was taken from her property and that the man did not speak to her.

The victim told investigators that she believed a car was parked on the roadway nearby. She could not give investigators a detailed description of the man or vehicle.
