A man now faces charges for allegedly holding people hostage at gunpoint at a hotel and causing shots to be fired which almost hit three teenagers.
At first, Joshua McDonald said he thought it was a joke.
He was being forced into a hotel room along with others by a gunman who already had one woman hostage.
“He locked us into the bathroom and told us if we came out of there he was going to shoot us. He pulled the clip out and showed us it was loaded,” said McDonald.
He said it was terrifying.
McDonald and his friend were told to get into the bathroom while the suspect made all three women undress and perform sex acts.
“He made us do things to each other. I've never been through anything like that in my life,” said one of the female victims.
“It was complete hell. I mean, I didn't know whether to try to run try, to struggle with him for the gun, I didn't know what to do,” added another victim.
A knock at the door helped two of them escape, said the victims.
The suspect then took his three remaining hostages and barged into another room where a father fought back to protect his children, according to police.
Investigators said the father wrestled the suspect down and held him to law enforcement arrived.
The suspect, Shantae Miguel Woods, was arrested and appeared in court on Wednesday.
He is being held on more than a million dollars bond on kidnapping and rape charges as well as other charges related to a robbery in August in which he allegedly stole the gun that was used in the attacks.
“It was just disgusting. He said if he was going to go to prison, he was going to go a happy man,” said one victim.
10TV News has also learned that Woods has a long list of arrests that date back years.
