Man Sentenced To Life For Sexually Assaulting 2 Children During Church Function

A man changed his plea to guilty on Wednesday in connection with sexually assaulting two children.

According to the Athens County Prosecutor's Office, Richard Merryman was sentenced to life in prison with a chance of parole after 10 years on two charges of rape and one charge of kidnapping.

Merryman, 21, of Canton, is accused of raping two children under the age of 13 at the Albany Community Center during a church function.

The prosecutor's office said that Merryman was at the community center with a Canton church group.

One of the incidents took place in a stairwell at the community center.
