Inman Sr. Trial To Move To Ross County

The murder trial of William Inman Sr. will be held in Ross County, a judge announced on Tuesday.

The move came after Hocking County Common Pleas Judge John Wallace said that William Inman Sr., who is accused of being the mastermind behind his daughter-in-law's death, could not receive a fair trial in Hocking County.

Wallace still will preside over the case in Ross County.  Inman is accused in the death of Summer Inman in March 2011. Her body was found in an Athens County septic tank.  William Inman's son, William Inman Jr., and wife, Sandra Inman, also were accused in Summer Inman's death.  William Inman Jr. was sentenced to life in prison earlier this summer, and Inman's wife, Sandra Inman, took a plea deal and will spend 15 years to life in prison.

According to the Hocking County Auditor, $45,000 has been spent on the first two Inman trials. He said another $45,000 was allotted for the most recent trial.

Residents said that they were surprised the trial was going to be held in Ross County.

"It's shocking that guy is going to be in this town," said Chillicothe resident Julie Widen.

Judge Wallace would not say when the new trial would begin, but he said that it would be no earlier than the first of the year.

Wallace said that he conducted an informal poll for himself a few days ago to help in his decision of bringing the trial to Ross County.
