UPDATED: Monday September 10, 2012 11:22 AM

Two Hilliard schools were placed on lockdown on Monday morning because of an incident near the school buildings.

Hilliard Weaver Middle School and Hilliard Davidson High School were placed on Level 1 lockdown at about 10:20 a.m.

Level 1 lockdown means that all exterior doors to the building were locked and normal activities took place inside the classrooms and throughout the school. The lockdown was taken at the request of the Norwich Township Fire Department.

Hilliard police said that they were trying to apprehend a suicidal man who was in the area. The man was taken into custody at about 10:28 a.m. The lockdown was lifted at that time.
