A Galion city councilman remains on the job after a tie vote on whether he should resign over comments he made about a local doctor.

During a city meeting in August, Councilman Ken Bodkins said he had been unable to reach Dr. Majid Ressallat regarding a property donation because he was, "probably out at the camel race somewhere."

The comment upset some board members. Two of them voted to ask for Bodkins' resignation at a meeting Tuesday night, but that was not enough for the measure to pass.

Bodkins has apologized and said he meant the comment as a joke.

Ressallat has not publicly commented.
