Man Accused In Deadly Downtown Stabbing Held On $1 Million Bond, Pleads Not Guilty

A man charged with murder said that he did not stab a man to death in Downtown Columbus on Thursday.

Thomas Wallace, 53, was arrested hours after Jerry Fugett, 42, was found dead outside the Renaissance Hotel near Third Street.

Police said that it appeared Fugett had been stabbed to death on his way to work as a dishwasher at an Arena District restaurant.

According to police, Wallace, who was arrested after being found walking along Interstate 670 with blood on his clothes, told them that he was connected to the stabbing.
