An alert homeowner may have helped catch three people accused of a string of burglaries.
Investigators said that Jared Christian, Raymond Morrow and Stephanie Bussard are accused of burglarizing more than 25 homes in Marion and Union counties.
The three were arrested after an unidentified victim chased them down.
“There was a car in the driveway with one of the burglars in the car, and a guy was coming out of the house with an armload of stuff,” said Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey.
The unidentified victim called for help.
“Somebody just broke into my house, and I’m chasing them down the road,” said the man in a call to 911. “I rammed them in the back, because I caught them coming out of my garage.”
Investigators said that the man followed the three through the city of Marion. One of the men then jumped out of a vehicle and ran into a field.
Bailey said that the three were captured at a home along Gallen Street, where investigators uncovered a large amount of stolen property.
The three were being held at the Marion-Harding Multi-County Jail.
Christian and Morrow were charged with burglary, and Bussard is charged with receiving stolen property.
Investigators said that they were also looking at the three for other unsolved burglaries, and other charges could be filed.
