A man was struck and killed while riding his bicycle early Saturday morning.
Nathan Smith, 18, of Marion, was riding his bicycle west on Fairgrounds Road when he was struck by John Kearns Jr., 20, who was trying to pass another vehicle at about midnight.
Smith was thrown from the bike. He was transported to Marion General Hospital, where he died.
Smith was not wearing a helmet or other safety equipment.
The crash remains under investigation.
