The Franklin County Sheriff's Office arrested a man in connection with a Victorian Village woman's death on Thursday.
Carolyn Cummins was found shot to death in the basement of her Highland Street home around 9 p.m. Wednesday. Witnesses said that they saw someone running from the scene of the crime.
Police charged Jason L. Stubbs, 35, in connection with the slaying. Stubbs was charged with murder and was taken into custody around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police said that Cummins, 73, had a reputation for opening her home to those in need. But neighbors said the house on Highland Street was a constant source of conflict.
A neighbor, who requested anonymity, described frequent and loud arguments in the street that often ended when police showed up.
"Weekly there's cops here so I don't know what the feud was," a neighbor said on Thursday.
The circumstances surrounding Cummins' death were under investigation.
Police would not divulge details about a possible motive, but Cummins' family members said that they would not stop until her killer was brought to justice.
"I'm so numb, but whoever did this, we're coming," said Cummins' daughter, who did not wish to be identified. "The police and God know what you did."
10TV did some digging and learned in the past seven years, Cummins filed 20 offense reports with Columbus police.
Most recently, in March, she told officers that someone stole prescription drugs out of her house.
