The Morrow County Sheriff's Office said a tree fell on a 6 year old Thursday and killed her instantly.
Sheriff Steven Brenneman said the incident happened on South Bloomfield Township Road 198 in the southeast portion of Morrow County.
The sheriff said the girl's grandmother called 911 because a tree fell in her yard and she couldn't find her grandchild.
Rescue workers found the child, who was not immediately identified, pinned under the branches of the tree.
The sheriff said the tree was rotted at the base.
