An Ohio man accused of strangling his daughter-in-law and leaving her body in a septic tank will still be eligible for the death penalty if convicted.
Attorneys for William Inman Sr. tried to remove the possibility for the death penalty, citing a plea deal that prosecutors made with Inman's wife, Sandra Inman. They said that the deal prevented the state from pursuing the death penalty against him.
Inman is charged with the aggravated murder of Summer Inman and other crimes allegedly committed in March 2011.
Earlier this summer, William Inman Jr. was convicted and sentenced to life in prison in connection with Summer Inman's death.
Jury selection for Inman Sr.'s trial was slated to begin on Thursday.
